Hunter Chandler

Head Coach
Varsity Linebackers, Defensive Coordinator, & Head Coach

Coach Chandler was born and raised in the Gallatin Valley. He was a star high school player & Captain for an undefeated state championship team. He ended up accepting a scholarship to Montana State University-Northern in Havre, MT. He was a star defensive back for the Northern Lights & a multiple time team captain during his college career. He played for Coach Mark Samson and Kyle Samson during his time at Northern. He quickly began his coaching career by accepting a varsity defensive backs and wide receivers position for Coach Samson at Havre High. They turned the program around and took the Blue Ponies to the Class A state semifinals. He then moved back down to the Gallatin Valley to teach & coach. Coach Chandler has been a part of multiple championship teams as both an athlete and coach. He has also coached multiple all state & college football players. He currently teaches weight training & health enhancement at Gallatin High. Coach Chandler loves to exercise, be outdoors, and spend time with his family. He is married to his beautiful wife Cydney Chandler.

Tucker Yates

Defensive Line & Run Game Coordinator

Originally grew up in Chinook, MT before moving to Colstrip. Coach Yates was a 3x state champ shot put thrower, 3x state champ wrestler, & a 3x all-state football player for the Colstrip Colts. He ended up receiving a scholarship to Montana State University out of high school. He was a star defensive lineman during his college career for the Cats. Coach Yates graduated with a K-12 health and physical education degree from Montana State. He currently works with the health enhancement and special education departments at Gallatin High School.

Zach Salvat

Running Backs

Coach Salvat was born in Los Angeles, CA and transferred to Joliet, Montana for High School. He was a two-sport athlete participating in football as well as track and field, honored as an All-State selection in both sports as a junior and senior. After High School, Coach Salvat attended Orange Coast College where he played running back before transferring to Montana State University to pursue a degree in kinesiology. Holding records in the weight room led Coach Salvat into pursuing a career in strength and conditioning. In his free time he volunteers for a non-profit Big Sky Bravery, working with Special Operations soldiers. He currently competes in Olympic Weightlifting for a chance to compete for Team USA. He most recently won the U25 National Championship in the 96kg division in 2019.

Jp Flynn

Offensive Line & Offensive Coordinator

Coach Flynn grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa. Where he began playing football in fourth grade for the Rising Knights Football program. Once in high school, he played football for the Bettendorf Bulldogs. He was an all-state selection as an offensive and defensive lineman during his senior season. The Bulldogs never finished out of the top four in the state of Iowa during his high school career. Coach Flynn also participated in basketball, baseball, and threw shot and disc for the track team. After high school, he was blessed with the opportunity to play football for Jason McEndoo at Montana State University. Coach Flynn was a 4 year starter for the bobcats, and a 4 time all conference selection, two time first team selection and a two time third team selection. His senior year was the start of the Four-peat against Montana. He was also selected as a 2nd team all American. After completion of his college career he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Francisco 49ers. He was on the practice squad when he tore his left patellar tendon. He came back and was re-signed to a second season when he re-injured his left knee once again during training camp. He spent the season on the injured reserve and continued to try and rehab his knee but was unable to do so. He now loves hanging with his girlfriend Carolyn, and her three kids, Callie, Markie, and Henry. When he is not chasing them around to basketball tournaments, baseball practices, or Beauty and the Beast plays, he loves to work out and hit the surrounding rivers and fly fish. Robert Donaghey

Wide Receivers

Coach Donaghey joins the staff after 14 years of coaching youth sports all across the Gallatin Valley. He got his start coaching Lions Club football. In addition to coaching Lions Club at 2 different time periods, he has coached youth basketball, soccer, baseball and fastpitch softball. Coach Donaghey played wide receiver at New Mexico Highlands University, an NCAA Division II school in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, where he was a 3 time Academic All Conference athlete, and a 1 time All-Conference Wide Receiver and Academic All District 6 player. Coach Donaghey moved to Montana in 1998 with his wife, Kristie, who he has been married to for 24 years, and they have two children, Wesley and Isabella

Tylan Croy

Coach Croy was a 4 year Letter award winner for the Huntley Project Red Devils, as well as a two time State Runner-up in football. While leading the Red Devils from the quarterback position, his team compiled a record of 39-7. Croy was a versatile player and played wherever he was needed for the Red Devils throughout his career. He received the Huntley Project MVP his Senior year, Class B All-Star game Offensive MVP, played in the Shrine Bowl and earned multiple post-season awards. Coach Croy started out his coaching career as a student manager for three seasons at Montana State University. He gained invaluable experience and knowledge while working with the football coaching staff. He is going into his third season as the varsity quarterbacks coach for the Gallatin Raptors.

Logan Codding

Coach Codding was a star high school player and a part of an undefeated state championship team his senior year. Coach Codding has coached at the middle school level, freshman level, and varsity level in the Gallatin Valley. He is going into his 3rd season with the Gallatin Raptors. Coach Codding likes to be active, get outside, and spend time with his family.

Logan Pratt

JV Offensive & Defensive Line

Coach Pratt was born and raised in Cheney Washington. He was a star player on the offensive and defensive line for the Cheney Blackhawks. He was a multi-sport athlete and an academic All-American during his high school career. He quickly began coaching at his alma mater upon graduation while pursuing a teaching degree from Eastern Washington University. He has coached a variety of positions and levels throughout his coaching career. He has a masters degree in Educational Leadership and is currently a math teacher at Gallatin High School. He loves to powerlift, get outside, and spend time with his wife.

Jeff Wolfgang

Linebackers

Coach Wolfgang was born and raised in California where he started playing football in sixth grade. He was a star running back & linebacker on an undefeated state championship team. He earned first team all league running back and first team all league linebacker. Coach Wolfgang continued to have a passion for football so he started coaching in 2014. Through his years of coaching he has coached defensive backs, linebackers, wide receivers, running backs, and has been defensive coordinator. During his seven years of coaching, his teams have won three championships. He’s passionate about youth/high school sports and the life lessons and values it teaches young adults. Football is more than the “game” to him. It’s about building confidence, toughness, dedication, commitment, and learning to sacrifice for your team, which is your family. He believes it also teaches athletes that nothing is guaranteed in life but with determination, commitment, and work ethic, anything is achievable. Coach Wolfgang is entering his third season with the Gallatin Raptors.

Daniel Huttinger

Coach Huttinger is a Bozeman native and after 25 years in Arizona, Coach came back to the Gallatin Valley in February 2020! Coach was a star offensive and defensive lineman in high school. After high school, his focus shifted to his professional business career. Coach spent 4 years coaching Varsity OL/DL at a Title 1 school in Phoenix, AZ. This is his second year at Gallatin High as the Freshman Head Coach. All players should know that he invests in each of them by developing a determined mind, superior intrinsic strength, and relentless work ethic. In addition, the team’s foundation is a commitment to family, a positive yet tough attitude, and a fun competitive environment. Off the field, Coach Huttinger works at Montana State University helping students navigate their university journey, and being the best version of themselves. Coach comes home to his wife Katie and St.Bernard “Misty”.

Kohl Michels

Freshman Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs Coach

Coach Michels was born and raised in Shepherd, Montana. In high school he was a 3-year captain for the Shepherd Mustangs and was awarded All-Conference his junior and senior year. Michels led the Mustangs to their first playoff appearance in 8 years his senior year. Other than football, Michels excelled in basketball and track and field. Following his senior year, Michels enrolled at MSU to pursue a degree in Business Management. He is currently a senior at MSU finishing his Business degree as well as a certification in Welding Technology through Gallatin College. He is super excited to start his coaching career at Gallatin High School. While not in class or on the field, Michels likes to spend his time outdoors or at the gym.

Carson ELy

Freshman Offensive & Defensive Line

Coach Ely was born and raised in the Gallatin Valley. He started playing football in elementary school and played all the way through his senior year at Gallatin High. Coach Ely played offensive and defensive line and served as a team captain his senior year. He was also a part of the first ever graduating class at GHS and loves to see the program continue to grow. He will be attending Montana State University to pursue a degree in Architecture. Coach Ely loves to exercise, be outdoors, and go to concerts.
